Festive Fall Home Tour 2016

Create & Celebrate, Susanne Stewart Designs

Summer is winding down (insert frowny face) here on Pearl Street. The nights are getting cooler and the mornings are a bittersweet reminder that summer can’t last forever.  Fall will be here before we know it.

I usually wait until October to do my fall decorating (holding onto summer as long as possible), but this year I am joining ten other wonderful bloggers for a Festive Fall Home Tour, hosted by Debbie Stolle from Chatham Hill on the Lake and Karen Kedzuch from Dragon Flys and Lily Pads . They have inspired me to get it done a little early this year!

Welcome to day three of the Festive Fall Home Tour 2016 and  fall on Pearl Street!  If you missed day one and two, you can see all eleven of us at the links at the end of this post!

Festive Fall Home Tour 2016

Summer may be my favorite season, but fall is my favorite season to decorate my home for.  I love the vibrant colors of fall, the reds, yellows, and oranges.  I am really loving all the neutral fall decor I have been seeing (and pinning), but I just can’t seem to get away from LOTS of color!!

First is my living room.  We don’t spend a lot of time in here since building the family room, but I couldn’t neglect it this season.

It’s a great room to curl up in and enjoy a good book with the fall sun coming in the windows.

Our dining room is actually the first room you see when you come in our side door, so I went all out with the mantle and table!

This fall banner was an easy project, mostly, and I will have a post on how I did it up on the blog very soon.

Our dining room has played host to many festivities over the years, and more recently we have taken over hosting Thanksgiving.  We add tables and chairs and 25-30 family members squeeze in and share Thanksgiving dinner and time together.

The last room on my leg of the Festive Fall Home Tour 2016 is our family room.  We added it on last year and it is where my hubby and I spend most of our time.  I kept it pretty simple in here, it was hard to top the fireplace!

I printed this adorable printable from Linda at The Home I Create , don’t you just love it?!  I love styling my bookshelves and if you need some tips on how to style yours, you can learn how to Style Built-ins like a Boss HERE.

I just LOVE fall flowers and the ones seen in this post are all artificial!  You can read how I get the most for my money with artificial flowers HERE.  Almost all of my fall decor was purchased from my wonderful friends at The Shoppes of East Main store #1 and #2.  If you are ever in Hagerstown, Indiana you must stop by for a look!

Our little guys, Pugsley and Winston, had to get in on the picture taking action.  Faces only a mother could love, hehehehe!  They are anxiously awaiting cooler weather too!

I love the tour. You have so many interesting pieces. The insulators, the books with the pages turned out, oh and the little rocking bird. You post makes me want to come for a visit (when there aren’t 30 having dinner) sit quiet and ask the stories behind each item, where you found it, how long you had it, why you put it there.

    Enjoyable tour. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you Leanna!! The insulators are from a store I owned and operated for a year and reminder that I marked that off my bucket list, the books are all by my favorite author and have been read at least twice, and the little rocking bird was a purchase I made that a portion of it went to charity. Each of my grandchildren have been fascinated with that little bird and how it rocks. Each item has a wonderful memory attached and I am reminded of them every day when I look at them. Thank you so much for stopping by!! 🙂

Susanne I love your home. The many gourds and pumpkins makes me feel like the harvest is bountiful! I can’t wait to read how to do that banner, it is a true focal point to your beautiful stone fireplace. Was that a free printable you referred to? And yes, the puppies! I am a sucker for them. The one I had peeking out on my front door was the cutest thing ever as a baby, but now I think she transformed into yes, a face only a mother can love!

Susanne – I so enjoyed your tour — your home is warm and welcoming. Your mantle looks great, I will be watching for the tutorial on how to make the Happy Fall banner. I love the tool box with the flowers…. and have been pestering my husband to make one for me! I also am a big fan of On Sutton Place !
